A cold and blustery day greeted all the athletes taking part in the Ennis Tri Duathlon. Spring is here but the winter weather has all athletes wondering when the sunshine is coming. The weather however did not deter the 125 athlete s who took part and the great showing by Ennis Tri marshals and event organizers was great to see.
The team out on the day were all smiles and a few nervous looks from Mags and Olivia. Darragh didn’t shave for fear he could lose strength for the bike while Mark, Trevor and Liam were all wondering who looked better in tights…….

Feeling tired, a little run down or for something to give your sports performance an edge? Perhaps you are giving some consideration to taking a sports supplement. A quick internet search will result in a multitude of sites offering products. Claimed beneficial effects include ‘increased muscle mass’, ‘improved strength, energy and focus’ or ‘ immune system boost’. But can they be trusted and do you need them?
The weather has timed itself to perfection as we write this Ireland is being battered by Gael Force winds and rain, anticipating the weather on race day is almost impossible with Irish forecastors finding it hard to get things right….. the one thing we do know is that… it is Ireland, we can have any seasonal weather on any day… so always carry a light windproof rain jacket
The now annual “bank holiday” GoTri Triathlon training weekend incorporating the Pink Baloon 10km and the Tri the Bay Swim went ahead last weekend with great success.
The swim sessions over the weekend focused on doing the simple things right and aiming to complete the big bay swim, the difference in all the athletes was amazing.
Go Tri Triathlon Coaching aquathon training league starts wednesday the 30th of may at the ulac. first night will see a 500m swim and 1.5 km run
beginners will be given a head start over the intermediates and the advanced group. first 15 accross the line will go again
The aquathon training sessions will happen for 3 wednesdays in a row leading up to kilkee hell of the west, each week the swim and run sections will get a small bit longer. helping both the beginner get used to the longer distance and open water swim scenario.
