Race 5 :The national Duathlon championships Ashford co.wicklow result 8th place

8th place and a lot of confidence. David had a great race and is not far off the pace when it comes to placing on the podium in the duathlon champs. A triathlete by nature from his water polo background the physics major is hoping for another break through season and this result bodes well for the work he is putting in. A strong first run and solid bike and brilliant run off the bike have given davy something to ponder as he goes forward in his training.

Race four: Clare Duathlon series race Ennis Tri duathlon.

3rd  place for the west limerick athlete and gotri hound. According to David “just not firing on the day” ” i know there is more in the tank and I’m just glad i could do a performance for the team”

David, ever critical of his performances knows that there is more to come and with a quality packed field to have a bad day and still finish on the podium is a good days work. Do the training get the results

Race Three: Clare Duathlon series race one Doonbeg co.clare

Victorious Richardson took the win ahead of a fully loaded field in west Clare. The Limerick man sat behind team mate Rory Sexton for the opening run and took command on the bike with great use of the head. Out powering Paddy Quinn over the 22km Hell O The West bike course, he had a comfortable lead heading ino T2 and went on for the win. David said ” We came as a team to do well here, the West Clare Tri team put on a great show and hopefully the series will go well for us” We asked him about the course and all the West Limerick man could say was “windy”.

Lets hope David will get his hair cut sometime soon!!!

RACE 2: Adare 10k : Result 7th place pb 33.26

David is starting to show some good form at this early part of the season. Before the Adare 10k the plan was to go out at 34 min pace and try to get faster as the race went on. David paced the race well sitting in about 13th place after the 1st mile. From there he picked it up and slowly caught and passed a few of the runners in front of him. At the 8k mark he was in 6th place with a lead of about 30m over 7th, but the final hill of the day caught him out and in the end settled for a new pb and 7th place. This race was another step in the right direction and the season begins to build.

RACE 1: Limerick Duathlon : Result 4th place

  • First: Colm Turner      Second: Rory Sexton  Third : Swiad Worms  Fourth : David Richardson

David had a solid race start running with the leading group and pushing the pace on the bike until the final turn into the last hill where David took an unexpected tumble off the bike and losing valuable time on the leading trio. David regained his composer to chase for the podium but alas on the day the crash cost him his place. A lot learned but a lot gained towards a big season ahead for the young Limerick man.
