After months of hard work for his leaving cert, Irish International Junior triathlete Rory Sexton from the Blackwater Tri Club in fermoy scorched to a great season opening performance in the middle of July winning the Carrick-On-Suir sprint distance triathlon.

Rory lead out of the water with a strong swim, but the downstream current didn’t allow him open up the advantage he would normally get on the swim. This meant he got caught on the bike and had to have a quick T2 to get out on the run course and catch the leader. Rory showed his class, with the Leaving Cert having no effect on his run performance and produced a blistering run to reel in the leader and cross the line 1st with a comfortable margin of victory.

Rory is showing a great return to form after completing his Leaving cert this year and will compete in the Kinsale Sprint Triathlon this weekend, which forms part of the Junior National Series.

Rory is aiming towards Junior cup races in London and Spain later in the year and looks as though he will time his comeback perfectly to peak for these races. GoTri would like to thank his sponsors TrinRun and his family who have been supporting Rory and his quest for Gold!!!!
